But aside from the obvious singles that became popular with the public, CN Blue also holds quite a few treasures that have gone unnoticed.
So before their sparkles die, we want to list off our five favorite CN Blue songs that have unfortunately gone under the radar.
Sweet Holiday
This song comes off of CN Blue’s Bluelove album in 2010.
The group has performed this song several times on different music programs, but for some odd reason, it wasn’t as spotlighted as Love and Love Light in the same album, which is kind of disappointing, considering what a beautiful song Sweet Holiday is.
The sappy lyrics, which make Sweet Holiday one of the most romantic yet unfortunate songs about one-sided love, were written by none other than CN Blue’s drummer, Kang Min Hyuk.
Sweet Holiday is easily relatable, since all of us have experienced having that annoying crush on that special someone and just hoping, longing, and imagining all the beautiful things that you could do with that person.
And then you realize it was all just happening in your head.
Sigh.
But Sweet Holiday is an amazing escape from the negative effects of having a crush.
Y, Why…
This song was definitely overshadowed by I’m a Loner, being in the same Bluetory album, but it shouldn’t be a song that goes forgotten.
Written and composed by Jung Yong Hwa, the song proves to show the less poppy and more emotional side of CN Blue.
With its beautiful melody and Jung Yong Hwa’s expressive voice, Y, Why sings of someone’s longing to confess to his loved one, but his inability to do so because he’s so overwhelmed with love and fearful at the same time.
Quite emotional and different from CN Blue’s usually upbeat music, but Y, Why is a song that will easily steal your heart if you listen carefully to its heartfelt lyrics.
Teardrops in the Rain (I Will Forget You)
This is one of CN Blue’s first songs, included in the mini-album Now or Never during its indie band days in 2009. The song was included in the Bluetory album under a new title, I Will Forget You and sung in Korean. The original was sung in English.
With Jung Yong Hwa being the leader and face of the band, people tend to forget how beautiful Lee Jong Hyun’s voice is and Teardrops in the Rain perfectly showcases Lee Jong Hyun’s hidden vocals.
Teardrops in the Rain is a soft and mellow ballad about the struggles of forgetting someone no matter how hard he tries. If you want to wallow after a sad break up, this is the song to listen to while eating a pint of chocolate ice cream on a rainy day.
One Time
Included in CN Blue’s First Step album, One Time rips apart all of its sweet, cringe-worthy songs and toys around with them.
Completely not pop-rock as we’re used to seeing being performed, One Time dances around in the genre of rock with the strong electronic guitar sounds and pounding of the drums. It’s the type of song your mom tells you to lower down, but you refuse to because you’re too busy rocking out to it.
A definite energy creator and atmosphere builder.
We dare you to listen to this song without bobbing your head.
If you aren’t, that’s cool too.
Thank You
This song was originally titled a.ri.ga.tou from CN Blue’s first Japanese album ThankU in 2010. A Korean version was later created and renamed Thank You.
An idol band is not an idol band until it has a song dedicated to its fans and Thank You is obviously the song for CN Blue’s fans.
Composed by Lee Jong Hyun and lyrics written by all the CN Blue members, Thank You is a song that expresses the group’s gratitude towards its fans, who have endlessly poured love and support for CN Blue through the thick and thin.
Very sweet and lighthearted but filled with lots of meaning and memories, Thank You is a song that all CN Blue fans will know, but the larger crowd won’t. And honestly, why should they, since this is the Boice’s song.
