While Psy fans are continuing to cross their fingers in anticipation of the updated Billboard Hot 100 chart ranking tomorrow, some good news has arrived from Billboard.
The latest update for Billboard’s “Psy Watch” on October 9 broke some of the statistics down to show it was still a tight race between Maroon 5 and Psy but still possible for Psy to break through.
In terms of airplay, Maroon 5’s One More Night topped Gangnam Style for the last six and a half days with the former standing at 113 million and Psy only holding up at 50 million.

In terms of airplay, Maroon 5’s One More Night topped Gangnam Style for the last six and a half days with the former standing at 113 million and Psy only holding up at 50 million.
As Billboard noted, however, it’s Gangnam Style’s single sales that give it an advantage and could make or break Psy’s attempt at #1 with Gangnam Style projected to sell between 250,000 to 260,000 by the end of the sales tracking week and One More Night selling between 160,000-170,000.
With Psy’s projected sales lead and Gangnam Style fast closing in on One More Night in on-demand streaming, Billboard concluded, “[Psy] could be on his way to No.1 on the Hot 100 with Gangnam Style.”
Of course, nothing is certain until the official results first come out on October 10 (PST).
