Lee Chun Hee took up his first evil role for the film Barbie.

The actor opened up on his new role at the press preview and roundtable held on October 15 for the film in Seoul. Director Lee Sang Woo and actors Kim Sae Ron and Kim Ah Ron were also present.

Lee Chun Hee said, "I had to curse and hit [the children], but I couldn′t bring myself to hit them. I just pushed them back."

Barbie coldly depicts the issue of adoption for the purpose of illegal organ sales. A girl is adopted to America, her little brother wants to go in her place and their foster father adopts them with a big secret. Lee Chun Hee appeared as the childrens′ uncle who sends them off to be adopted.

He said, "I thought that would be enough to look evil, but the director wanted more. I tried to do the most evil things I could think of. They were so severe, I kept apologizing to them right after. The children, however, comforted me that it′s only acting."

"I had to throw pickled vegetables at Ah Ron in one scene," he added. "I couldn′t do it, so the lighting director threw them for me. Just watching the screen made me so mad, but Ah Ron had such great eyes in that scene. There was something that made her absorb on set."

He said about the reason he took up the role, "I became determined to be in the piece in order to depict Mang Tae′s role in a reality that stops him from escaping his seaside life. He′s evil in the film, but in general it seemed he was a victim too. I didn′t act thinking he was an evil role. I concentrated more on why he was abusing his nephews rather than how I could be more evil toward them."

Barbie will premiere on October 25.
