Police have concluded that Jo Sung Min lost his life in a suicide.
A rep from the Suseo Police Agency told enews on January 7, "The autopsy results stated that it is appropriate to say [Jo Sung Min] was killed when he hanged himself. Nothing has changed from the official press releases previously distributed. We could not find any evidence pointing the incident to a murder, and so we concluded the case to be one of suicide."

The autopsy was held at 8:30 a.m. on January 7 (KST) for about an hour and a half. The body will be moved to the Korea University hospital, where the wake is taking place.
The wake will last for three days, and the body will be cremated on January 8. The remains will then be buried at the Bundang Sky Castle Memorial Park.
Jo Sung Min was found dead at a studio apartment on January 6. His girlfriend Ms. Park was the one who discovered the body and reported it to police.
He wed the late actress Choi Jin Sil in December 2000, but the couple divorced in September 2004. Choi Jin Sil committed suicide on October 2008 after suffering from malicious rumors.
