Shin Hye Sung was injured during the group’s comeback concert.
His doctor, who analyzed an MRI taken soon after the injury occurred, said, “Because his cruciate ligament was ruptured, the cartilage in his knee and the ligament surrounding the meniscus has been damaged severely, which may have a serious effect on his joint. He needs to have surgery in order to prevent recurring and more severe injuries, and also six months of absolute rest after the surgery.”

According to sources close to Shinhwa, Shin Hye Sung had previously had surgery on his left knee due to a ruptured cruciate ligament, and his right knee was in bad condition as its cruciate ligament also continued to suffer damage.
Shin Hye Sung said, “I can’t bring trouble to Shinhwa’s promotions, as it has just started. I’ll put off the surgery for a while and be very careful by exercising and going through treatment in the meantime,” showing that he is all for continuing with the first music show performance of Shinhwa’s new single Venus this week.
“I’ll decide on the surgery after wrapping up Shinhwa promotions,” he added.
Lee Jang Eon, head of Shin Hye Sung’s agency Liveworks Company, said, “We’ll keep an eye on how his condition turns out for about two days and fix the schedules. We’ll also be very careful about the injured part in future Shinhwa activities so that fans won’t have to worry about it.”
Shin Hye Sung was injured during Shinhwa’s 14th anniversary concert The Return held on March 25 when he was shot up on stage but failed to land safely just before the encore performance of Oh!. Shin Hye Sung was immediately moved to the emergency room of a local hospital, and the other members stayed in the venue to wrap up the performance.
