Yeon Jeong Hun is often hated simply for the reason that he lives with the actress Han Ga In. Han Ga In means that much to her male fans.
She’s beautiful enough to be called a goddess, and she even earned good grades at school. She also has a graceful image as she debuted as the face of Asiana Airlines. She’s a star who has everything a man could ask for.
But Han Ga In recently threw out her original image and became a real actress. She became a household name after starring in the ‘Nation’s drama’, MBC’s The Sun and the Moon, and the successful film Architecture 101.
Enews met with her to listen to her talk about her acting and her life.

Han Ga In up close
Han Ga In was energetic and assertive. Even when she was asked sensitive questions like those about the rumors surrounding her relationship with her husband, she didn’t hesitate to answer with straightforward answers. She was different from the image she often sported for her commercials, but she gave off a new humane and laid back charm.
She has the looks of a goddess and an assertive character. But she herself, however, said that she didn’t like to have the word ‘goddess’ used on her. She said that she’s just a housewife that tries to juggle her family and her work like everyone else.
How are you these days? You seem to be so busy.
“I’m really busy because of the promotion schedules for Architecture 101. Still, it’s better compared to when I was shooting for The Sun and the Moon. I at least get to sleep more than three or four hours. During that time, I had to abandon everything other than filming. (Laugh)”

In the beginnings of ‘The Sun and the Moon’, the child actors and Kim Soo Hyun got the bigger spotlight. Didn’t you feel somewhat threatened?
“Not at all. I was actually more comfortable. If I was a rookie, I think it would’ve been a lot of pressure, but I have more experience in acting compared to Kim Soo Hyun or Jung Il Woo (Laugh). That’s why I didn’t worry about things like that.”
Your acting was dragged into a controversy with The Sun and the Moon, but you were praised in Architecture 101. What do you think about that?
“It’s pretty interesting. I filmed Architecture 101 first. I just think it was the result of the great interest from the public. I was very similar in personality to the Seo Yun character in the film too so….”
It’s a film about first love. I know you’ve been asked this a lot, but I’m still curious. If your first love ever came to see you again….
“Like you said, I’ve been asked that a lot. He gave me great memories and I hope he thinks the same, but I’m scared he’ll be harmed [by all this]. If he comes to see me, I think it would shatter all the beautiful memories we had together. Maybe when we’re over 60 we can be more comfortable with each other like friends and companions in life. If we just run into each other coincidentally that would be a completely different story…. (Laugh)”
In ‘The Sun and the Moon’ you kissed Kim Soo Hyun, while for this film you kissed Uhm Tae Woong. Which one did you like more?
“My emotions changed not with the actor, but with the situation and scene. When I had to shoot a kiss scene with Kim Soo Hyun, I was so busy. The camera was on all the time. When I filmed the kiss scene with Uhm Tae Woong, however, I was really into the scene. I related to the situation a lot, and I felt like I had become Seo Yun. Just thinking about it that way, the kiss scene with Uhm Tae Woong was more exciting.”

Kiss scene. Your husband (Yeon Jeong Hun) must’ve been jealous.
“Jealous? We can’t afford such a luxury. If we don’t understand little things like that, how do you think we’ll continue working? I’m just sorry toward my husband because I’m so busy. During The Sun and the Moon, I only went home once a week to do the laundry. Whenever I went home I found the laundry and cleaning had all been done. When I find the time I want to get him a warm bowl of nurungji soup.”
You must’ve been hurt by the continuous rumors surrounding your marriage.
“Not at all. At first I was taken aback on why such rumors were popping up, but now I don’t really care. One time my husband and I lay down on the sofa together and read through an article talking about the rumors…. (Laugh)”
Isn’t it hard to be both a housewife and an actress?
“Of course it is. I’m the same as any other working housewife. I am good at laundry or cleaning, though. Other than the times I was busy with The Sun and the Moon and Architecture 101, I was devoted to my housekeeping, too. I think I could be scored 90 [out of 100] as a housewife. (Laugh) I did this before, but I try to control my work so that it doesn’t affect my housekeeping too much.”
Where will you be headed in the future?
“I sent off The Sun and the Moon, which was loved nationwide, but I don’t believe that’s the end. Only one piece has gone by, and I haven’t changed much as an actress. I want to meet my future pieces and the rest of my life as naturally and calmly as I am now.”
