Time Slip Dr. Jin is a medical drama that tells the story of Korea’s best doctor in modern-day time, who crosses the space and time threshold to travel back in time to the Joseon Dynasty in 1860, and his struggles there. The drama is based on a ten year-running popular manga series by Murakami Motoka and was already made into a popular Japanese drama on Japan’s TBS in 2009.
By beginning its run sometime in June or July, Time Slip Dr. Jin is likely to draw comparisons to the similarly historic medical-themed Faith, which will premiere in August on SBS.
In Faith, Kim Hee Sun stars as a modern-day famous plastic surgeon who comes together with Goryeo dynasty’s most famed warrior Choi Young, played by Lee Min Ho.
Time Slip Dr. Jin will be directed by Han Hee, who has directed other dramas such as Over the Rainbow and jointly written by Han Ji Hoon and Jun Hyun Jin. Song Seung Hun will play the role of the genius doctor, Jin Hyuk, who travels some 150 years in time. Kim Jae Joong plays the role of Kim Kyung Tak who comes from a military family and is Joseon Dynasty’s finest officer.
For Song, the role will be his first as a medical doctor while this will be Kim′s first historic piece.
The production agency added the female lead and the rest of the cast would be determined in the coming days with shooting set to kick-off on April 15.
