KBS2’s The Equator Man has greatly benefited from the April 11 general elections.
According to the AGB Nielsen Media Research, the April 11 broadcast of The Equator Man recorded a 14.3 percent viewership ratings, a 4.1 percent increase from its previous broadcast. As a result, the competition between the three Wednesday-Thursday dramas is expected to be fierce, as all three dramas are currently enjoying double-digit ratings.

Meanwhile, MBC’s The King 2Hearts and SBS’ Rooftop Prince didn’t even get a chance to compete and lost the viewership ratings battle , as both dramas were suspended due to the April 11 general elections. Although the cast had requested a ‘delayed broadcast’, in the end the production team decided to air part two immediately after the April 12 broadcast.
Thanks to its big leap forward on April 11, The Equator Man has laid the groundwork to take over the Wednesday-Thursday viewership crown. Although the three dramas started out together in March, the first episode of The Equator Man recorded the lowest ratings out of the three with a 7.7 percent viewership ratings.
However, its latest viewership ratings appear to be bad news for The King 2Hearts, who has seen its ratings decline every week since its premiere, and Rooftop Prince, which was fortunate enough to enjoy an uptick in ratings every week.
It should be interesting to see how The Equator Man will fair against its two rivals on April 12.
SBS and MBC’s April 11 special broadcasts recorded a 9.8 percent and 5.1 percent viewership rating respectively.
