SHINee’s Minho, who took up his first lead role for the SBS drama To the Beautiful You, said that the controversies surrounding his acting skills are obstacles he will overcome.

He appeared at the press conference held on August 13 to speak about his acting.

Minho said, “Since I’ll be showing myself acting instead of standing onstage, many viewers will feel awkward about it. I’m acting with the thought that I may draw criticism from many.”

He then added, “I should do my best to help people find a new side to myself and get them to feel that I can do well. Many have been cheering for me.”

“I believe the controversy surrounding my acting is an obstacle I can’t avoid. I’ll try to work hard to show my best,” he finished.

The drama, which will air its first episode on August 15, is about the romances and dreams of teenagers attending a physical education high school. It’s especially drawing interest for featuring f(x)’s Sulli as Koo Jae Hee, a character who dresses like a boy.
